Comments:

The BMW 503 Cabriolet on offer has been delivered to its first owner the

BMW importer Polliak in Johannisburg/RSA in 1960. It was the seventh to the

last built 503 Cabriolet Series II. For a couple of years Mr. Polliak used the car

by himself before he sold it to Switzerland. The car became for thirty years part

of a small collection near to Lausanne always maintained properly. In 1998 the

whole collection has been sold and the 503 cabriolet came into the hands of a

collector out of the Netherlands who commisioned a two years complete

restoration at the well respected company of Bart Holland. The restoration is

documented by lots of photos and bills which exceeded 100.000,-  €. Later it

came to Germany where it was serviced at the famous BMW specialist

Feierabend near to Würzburg who serviced the car perfectly. In early 2008 the

car came to the last owner which is a Swiss resident. In the last two years the car

has been used regurlarly in different ralleys and events and it has been

maintained perfectly in Switzerland. All the bills and service records in the last 15

years have been collected.

The BMW 503 Cabriolet has been produced in the late fifties parallel to the

amazing 507 two seater cabriolet which has been produced only 252 times. In

the early days the four seater cabriolet found only 139 owners from which only

58 cabriolets came with the four speed gear shift situated in the centre console.

It is told that not more than 45 cars survived. The 503 has been produced in

alloy as well as the 507 and it received more or less the same alloy 8-cylinder

engine. It is equipped with the hydraulic softtop which was a real sensation in

the after war period in the fifties in Germany. The car has been designed by the

famous Count Görtz with its elegant lines and due to the enormous effort to

built up a perfect modern sportscar it has been more expensive at the BMW

dealers in its early days than the 507 Cabriolet. It seems to be a rare

opportunity to acquire one of the very few 503 Cabriolet Series II in a

similar condition.

The car will be delivered with a FIVA passport and the whole restoration report

and lots of service records.

It still has its Swiss title and needs to be imported again into the EU or

Germany.
